Pastor Jonathan Sansom began his ministry in 1991 as a worship leader for Pastor Charles Sansom, Jr. of Ocean City Church in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Three years later he began to take on the youth ministry of his father’s church. In 1993 he was licensed in ministry by Ocean City Church, and later ordained in 1997.In 2003, Jonathan moved to Atlanta, GA to sit under the ministry of Bishop Eddie Long of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. He observed as God took a local church ministry and used it to transform an impoverished community seemingly void of the life of Christ, and turn it into a thriving prosperous city that serves as a witness to the transforming power of the gospel. This move would later prove to be pivotal in launching a young ministry born out of a passion to present people with an opportunity to engage God through the life changing power of His word and life.
Jonathan returned to Fort Walton Beach in 2005 after hurricane Ivan swept through the Florida Gulf Coast. Jonathan had a major influence in the Fort Walton Beach area as a former youth pastor, worship leader, and founder of a local faith-based juvenile delinquency program. He also worked closely with one of the local high schools as the Chaplain of the football team. These incredible ministry experiences were used to equip Jonathan for the greatest adventure ever: planting a new church in the Fort Walton Beach area. Jonathan moved to back to Fort Walton Beach with the dream of building a life-giving church focused on the simplicity of the gospel and the power of an intimate relationship with a loving God. Gulf Coast City Church had its first service in January 2007, and the dream just keeps getting bigger! Even as amazing growth continues, Pastor Jonathan is committed to keeping Gulf Coast City Church a place where nothing gets in the way of people connecting with God.
